Tia Jones and Chaunte Lowe Talk Olympics with CelebMix

Publish date: 2024-06-16

Chaunte Lowe and Tia Jones are both absolutely incredible Track & Field athletes.  Chaunte tackles high jumps while Tia takes on hurdles and both of them compete with an attitude that says “I’m here to win, I’ve worked hard for this and I want it, bad”.  They’ve both brought that attitude to the 2016 Olympics where Chaunte is competing and Tia is being mentored.

Bringing mentoring into the Olympics is great not just for hopefuls who are learning the ins and outs of the games before they experience them in full, but it’s a great opportunity for athletes to share not only their talent, but their compassion and to give back to young adults with similar dreams.

Chaunte came into Rio as number one and felt confident about her chances, and with good reason, her stats are absolutely incredible. She’s competed in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Olympics prior to the 2016 games in Rio and she’s not just athletic, Chaunte is also incredibly intelligent and driven; she’s the entire package.

Tia isn’t competing in the 2016 Olympics, she’s aiming for 2020, but she is along for the experience with Chaunte thanks to TD Ameritrade and she feels blessed to have Chaunte as a mentor. Hurdling has been part of Tia’s life since she was 8 and in 2015 she set two national age group and Junior Olympic records in two days at the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships.

We got to chat with both Chaunte and Tia about the Olympics, mentoring, and how important is it to stay driven and believe in yourself.

It’s hard to hear the dedication these women have for their passion and not be inspired, and they’re definitely two names we’ll be keeping an eye on in the future.
