Ghulam Muhammad Baksh, better known by his ring name Gama Pehalwan, was born on May 22, 1878, into a traditional Kashmiri Muslim wrestling group in Jabbowal, Punjab, British India.

His family was bred to produce exceptional grapplers. Muhammad Aziz Baksh’s son, Gama Pehalwan, is an Indian wrestler.

Imam Baksh Pehalwan, a Muslim wrestler, also had a brother.

Throughout his life, he was known for challenging various widely and, shockingly, internationally renowned grapplers to defeat him.

This incredible grappler was so good that he could take down his opponents in just two or three minutes.

Gama has two marriages. He was the father of five boys and four daughters. On January 15, 1927, the Great Gama Pehlwan and one of his wives, Imam Baksh Pahalwan, gave birth to Aslam Pahalwan, a Pakistani grappler.

In many aspects, Aslam resembled his father. He lived his entire life as the World Heavyweight Champion.
