Fans of Demi Lovato know that not all has been well for her over the past few years. People Magazine picked up on an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in which she expressed gratitude for the fact her fanbase has been so patient with her following her July 2018 overdose and subsequent rehabilitation.

During her chat with the aforementioned outlet, Lovato shared that she “appreciated” the patience of her fans and the general public after she overdosed two years ago in the summertime. The star added that she would “hate for detail to become the headline” when she has worked so hard on her artistic endeavors.

According to Lovato, she did make a grave mistake when she was 18-years-old. The singer-songwriter claims when she went into treatment when she was a teenager, she went back to work around six months after. She thinks that was a big error.

For the most part, the 27-year-old songstress has spent time in the shadows, quietly working on her new music and letting the tabloids “run wild.” Fans of the pop-star know her name was in the headlines repeatedly when the news of her overdose was first announced.

With that said, with her new record coming out soon, she finally gets the chance to release a project which tells her side of the story. As it was previously reported, Lovato was taken to a hospital in July 2018 after a 911 call confirmed she was in need of urgent medical attention.

Reportedly, Demi was revived by a Narcan injection, a drug used to thwart the effects of an opiate overdose. While in the hospital, Lovato received a tremendous amount of support from her fans, and even from the general public. She says she couldn’t be more thankful.

One of the more challenging aspects of the support, the singer claimed, was feeling unworthy of the kind words from fans. The star conceded, however, that she was just a regular person going through a tough time, so in many ways, the support she received made sense.

In addition to her music career, Lovato has been busy working in acting once again, including in the new Netflix comedy, Eurovision, in which she worked alongside big-named stars like Pierce Brosnan, Rachel McAdams, and Will Ferrell.
