Corinne Hebert Obituary – Corinne H. Hebert 1930 CHICOPEE 2008 Corinne H. “Cokie” (Hamelin) Hebert, 77, of Chicopee’s Willi-mansett Hights section, was Called Safely Home on Friday, January 4, 2008, from her home, surrounded by the love and care of her beloved family. She was born on January 17, 1930, in Holyoke, the cherished daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Sicotte) Hamelin.

She was raised in Holyoke, went to local schools, and relocated to Chicopee’s Willimansett Heights neighborhood in 1953. She worked as a server at Holyoke’s historic Colony Restaurant on High Street and then as a lunch mother at the Lambert-Lavoie School in Chicopee. She belonged to the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans Ladies Auxiliary. Cokie loved country music and enjoyed singing and playing her guitar with her children.

She also composed songs and, at the age of six, recorded a yodeling album. She attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett. Her dear daughter, Karen T. (Hebert) Riley, who died on December 19, 1978, and her adored husband, Leo J. Hebert, who died on February 22, 1993, predeceased her. Debra J. Maurer of Granby, David L. Hebert, Donna M. Hebert, and Paul R. Hebert, all of Chicopee, survive her.

She is also survived by her six adored grandkids, James Riley, Jeffrey Maurer, Kevin Maurer, Michael Maurer and his wife Valerie, David LaBelle, and Karina Hebert, as well as her seven adored great grandchildren. Robert Hamelin and his wife Rose of Chicopee, Philip Hamelin of Springfield’s Indian Orchard district, Richard Hamelin and his wife Linda of Northampton, Estelle Sourdiffe and her husband Raymond, and Adele Moauro, all of Chicopee, and many dear nephews and nieces.

Her funeral will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2008, from the St. Pierre Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street at the intersection of Grattan Street in Chicopee, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 780 Chicopee Street in Willimansett.
