5 reasons why we love Lady Gaga

Publish date: 2024-05-18

To celebrate CelebMix’s fifth anniversary, we have taken a closer look at some of our favourite celebrities, and the different aspects that we love about them.

For this article, we have decided to share with you our top five reasons on why we love Lady Gaga.

1. Her versatility as a music artist

Lady Gaga is an incredibly talented musician, but she is also very versatile when it comes to what she does! It’s not very often that a singer has been able to pull off so many different styles of music.

Although she’s primarily a pop artist, she’s dabbled with so many genres throughout her career: such as electronic dance music (EDM), synthpop, techno, dubstep, rock and folk. Influences from rock were present throughout many of the tracks on Gaga’s third studio album, “Born This Way” (2011), and she has also recorded ballads influenced by glam rock such as “Brown Eyes”, from her debut “The Fame” (2008), and “Speechless”, taken from “The Fame Monster” (2009). Her fifth studio album, “Joanne” (2016), was influenced by country music.

Perhaps the most notable example of Gaga’s diversity in the world of music is her jazz album with Tony Bennett, “Cheek to Cheek” (2014) – Gaga was notably praised in particular for her vocal performance on the record’s tracks.

2. Her style

Gaga has to have one of the most outlandish, dazzling and creative styles in the world of showbiz. Over the years she has impressed us with her somewhat unusual choice of attire at many events.

We also love how much her style has evolved. From the wackiness of the costumes during the “The Fame” era, to the more simple fashion choices she donned during the “Joanne” era – we cannot get enough.

One of our recent favourite Gaga looks has to be at the Met Gala 2019, where she went through four different spectacular costume changes! She really stole the show that night.

3. She’s a very good actress

We love Lady Gaga the musician and performer, but we also love Lady Gaga the actress. Gaga got her first big role starring as The Countess in the fifth season of “American Horror Story”, subtitled “Hotel” in 2015. It seems like this character was just made for Gaga, and she played the role very well. The following year, she also won her first Golden Globe for her role in the series.

Her most notable role is that of Ally Maine in the 2018 film, “A Star Is Born”, alongside Bradley Cooper. Gaga was incredible throughout this film, portraying the raw and emotional undertones of her character, and her role led to her receiving many accolades. Most notably, she garnered eight nominations at the 2019 Oscars, winning one for “Best Original Song” for “Shallow” (2018).

Gaga still has more acting in the pipeline: she is set to play Patrizia Reggiani, who was convicted of hiring a hitman to murder her ex-husband Maurizo Gucci, in an upcoming film.

4. Her charitable efforts

Gaga has done so much to so many people. In 2011, she founded the Born This Way Foundation with her mother, Cynthia Germanotta, to help inspire disadvantaged youth and build better communities. Gaga was partly inspired to help set up the foundation as a result of bullying amongst youth people.

Most recently, Gaga helped to organise the One World: Together At Home virtual concert with Global Citizen, which aimed to promote the practice of social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic.

5. Her support for the LGBT+ community

As a bisexual woman, Gaga has continued to show her love and support for the LGBT+ community throughout her career. Her hit “Born This Way” (2011) was lyrically about the self-empowerment of the gay community and other minorities, while she has also made many other songs dedicated to her LGBT+ fans.

In 2010, she was a strong advocate against the controversial ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy in place in the United States Armed Forces, and urged her fans to contact local senators to overturn the policy.

More recently, Gaga also helped pay tribute to the victims of the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting, by holding a vigil and giving a speech. She has also spoken out against President Donald Trump and his military transgender ban, as well as Vice President Mike Pence for his wife Karen Pence working at a school where LGBT+ people have been turned away.
